As an alternative to turning my own prototypes in the workshop, I decided to go out and start speaking to local craftsman who were experts at their craft. I worked with a turner in Newlyn, about an hours drive from Falmouth, for about 2 - 3 weeks. We experimented with different hard & soft woods, and used my accurate techical CAD drawings to create turned models similar to the standard of what a rapid prototyping machine would produce. The end products were beautiful as well as accurately prototyped. A wonderful experience to learn new skills from an expert craftsman taking time away from technology.
